Last year Washington broke a string of 28 consecutive seasons without a losing record. Part of the problem was Washington playing against the 7th toughest schedule in the country, but primarily the talent just wasn't there. Washington decided to let go head coach Keith Gilbertson, in favor of former Notre Dame head coach Tyrone Willingham. The new coach will bring much needed leadership, but ultimately this change could also mean an initial step back. Willingham will have his work cut out for him rebuilding a Washington offense that was dead last in points per game in the nation last year. On the plus side, the defense is not all that bad and should keep them in some games. In the end the Huskies will need to stay healthy and buy into Willingham’s philosophy if Washington has hopes for a winning season.
