Coach: Al Groh (5th year at Virginia)
Team Name: Cavaliers
2004 Record: 8-4
2004 ACC Conference Record 5-3
2004 ATS Record: 6-6
Returning Starters: 12
Not that much separates Virginia from challenging Georgia Tech for the third spot in the Coastal Division, but they are still a class behind FSU, Miami, and Va Tech. Success in 2005 depends on the quality of play from starting QB Marques Hagans. The Cavaliers did lose a lot of talent to the NFL draft last year so it is hard for us to imagine them being capable of duplicating their 8-4 record of 2004. The schedule starts out pretty simple and the Cavaliers should start out the season 4-0. For the remainder of the season, the schedule is a little tougher including games against BC, Florida St., Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, and closing the season out at Miami. Virginia is a quality team overall and the non conference schedule is pretty easy so more than likely Virginia will be bowl eligible and should be playing in the post season.
