Coach: Mike Leach (6th year at Texas Tech)
Team Name: Red Raiders
2004 Record: 8-4
2004 Big 12 Conference Record 5-3
2004 ATS Record: 6-6
Returning Starters: 13
Even though Tech will be starting their 4th new quarterback in the past 4 seasons, the offense will be great again. 5th year senior Cody Hodges takes over the offensive reins, and will try to become the 4th consecutive Red Raider quarterback to lead the nation in passing. To help him accomplish this task, are an explosive group of receivers who as a whole are rated as one of the countries best wide receiving cores.
The Texas Tech defense won’t make the jumps like they did from 2003 to 2004, but a modest improvement is expected. If the defense can slow down the pass against the well balanced schools like Oklahoma, A&M, and Texas, they could propel themselves to 2nd or 3rd in the South division.
Thanks to a soft non conference schedule the Red Raiders should
head into Texas with an unblemished record. We are predicting
Texas Tech will lose that game as well as to Oklahoma in their
season finale. The November 5th game against Texas A&M should
ultimately settle which team finishes 3rd in the South division
and has a shot at a New Years Day Bowl. Overall Texas Tech is
a solid team that will score a ton and will return to post season
play.
