2004 ATS Record: 5-7

Most programs would be happy with an 11-1 record and a BCS Rose Bowl win, but losing to Oklahoma for the 5th straight season which cost them a shot at USC made the 2004-05 campaign a disappointing one for Longhorn fans. This season the Longhorns will look to end their 5 game losing streak against OU, and play their way into the national title picture. Texas lost 2 Stars in RB Cedric Benson, 6th leading rusher in division 1 history, and Butkus Award winner, Derrick Johnson. Despite this loss of talent, the Longhorns are loaded on both sides of the ball. Texas will boast the best offensive line in the country and arguably the best defensive line in the country behind Tennessee. Junior starting QB Vince Young is one of the most exciting players in the nation, and is a heisman candidate. We will know if Texas is a National championship contender after a trip to Columbus on September 10th. A win against Ohio St. here would give the Longhorns the confidence they need to finally beat Oklahoma for the first time in 6 years in the Red River Shootout. Overall Texas is a top 5 team in the country and a serious threat to make it to the BCS championship game.
