Coach: Dennis Franchione (3rd year at Texas A&M)
Team Name: Aggies
2004 Record: 7-5
2004 Big 12 Conference Record 5-3
2004 ATS Record: 7-5
Returning Starters: 17
Texas A&M returns seventeen starters overall tied for most in the conference, and this may be Francione’s best team in his 3 year tenure.
In 2004 the Texas A&M defense allowed 24 ppg, much improved from the 39 points per game they surrendered in 2003. With 8 starters returning in 2005, the defense expects to improve once again.
The offense will be good and is lead by senior QB Reggie McNeal. McNeal is a heisman candidate who possesses both exceptional running and passing abilities. Offensive line play will be key, allowing protection for McNeal to throw bombs to a gifted receiving core, as well as opening holes for starting tailback Courtney Lewis to run through.
The Aggies have another tough schedule which includes 4 road
games against schools expected to make it post season play.
How A&M plays in its final 3 games of the season @ Texas
Tech, @ Oklahoma, and home to Texas, will ultimately determine
what kind of bowl bid they receive. That being said, should
top last years 7 win total and return to a bowl game for the
second straight season.
