Last year the Cardinal football team only put up 2 wins in Pac 10 play. This year we are not expecting a jump in wins, and place Stanford dead last in the Pacific 10 conference.
Mostly because of the schedule, but also because former Pittsburgh head coach Walt Harris takes over the program. This means a new playbook for both the offense and defense which will take time for players to adjust to. If the offense can gel, there are a couple winnable games on the first half of the schedule but Stanford very well could go winless in the conference. The Cardinals are not the least talented team in the conference, but their home games are against the class of the PAC 10. When Stanford travels on the road against Washington St., Arizona, and Oregon St., we expect the Cardinal opponents to take care of business, since those games are likely one of their few winnable games all season. Walt Harris's personal streak of taking teams to bowls 5 consecutive bowls should come to a close in 2005.
