Coach: Randy Edsall (7th year at Connecticut)
Team Name: Huskies
2004 Record: 8-4
2004 Big East Conference Record 3-3
2004 ATS Record: 5-6
Returning Starters: 11
Over the summer Connecticut lost stud QB Dan Orlovsky to the
NFL draft. New starting QB Matt Bonislawski will take over the
offensive reins. Bonislawski has only thrown 7 passes in his
College career. Matt is a big down grade from Orlovsky and the
Huskies offense should experience some growing pains. Connecticut
does have 2 fearsome running backs in Terry Caulley and Cornell
Brockington, but due to 4 new starters on the o-line we have
doubts these 2 will be able to have the success they have enjoyed
in previous seasons. Last year the defense was an asset for
UCONN, but with major losses in the secondary and line backing
core, plenty of holes will need to be filled. The Huskies do
play a soft non conference schedule and have 4 Big East home
games, so a winning season is possible if the right pieces fall
into place.
