Top 10 Fantasy Football Quarterbacks

.) Peyton Manning – Another fantasy football year is here and of course Peyton Manning tops the list of fantasy QBs. Manning’s numbers took an apparent dip last season compared to his record breaking year in 2004 but that was expected. What was not expected was for Manning to be outdone by Carson Palmer. With Palmer’s injury, I think Manning is still the top QB bar none. The loss of Edgerrin James will hurt the Colts offense but rookie Joseph Addai and Dominic Rhodes should fill in nicely. Manning threw for 3747 yards and 28 touchdowns and I expect the same production this year.

.) Tom Brady – Since coming into the league, Tom Brady has become one of the top signal callers in the game with 3 Super Bowl rings. In 2005, Brady threw for over 4000 yards more than any other QB to go along with his 26 touchdown passes. Brady is one of the best and will remain up there in fantasy points this season. There are some question marks in the Pats offense but drafting Chad Jackson from Florida and Lawrence Maroney from Minnesota should help Brady out. All in all, he has all the qualities of a great fantasy QB.

.) Marc Bulger – Marc Bulger was on pace to throw for more than 4000 yards and close to 30 touchdowns when he suffered a season ending injury half way through the year. Bulger is now healthy and is ready for another good season. He still has plenty of weapons in Torry Holt, Kevin Curtis, and Stephen Jackson. This Rams offense should be very good which will bolster Bulger’s numbers if he stays healthy. In just 8 games, Bulger threw for 2297 yards and 14 touchdowns. Extrapolate those numbers over a full season and you’ve got yourself a top 5 fantasy quarterback.

.) Matt Hasselbeck – Matt Hasselbeck is starting to come into his own as an NFL quarterback and I expect him to improve upon a very good season in 2005. He threw for 3455 yards and 24 touchdowns. Opposing defenses have to key in on Shaun Alexander which will continue to open up the passing game. Bulger has a great receiver in Darrell Jackson and I like the addition of Nate Burleson who could thrive in the Seahawks system. Jeremy Stevens is a quality tight end giving the improving Hasselbeck plenty of options to throw to.

.) Carson Palmer – If Carson Palmer did not suffer a career threatening injury in the post season last year, he would probably be at the top of this list. Palmer made his mark last season as one of the top quarterbacks in the league, throwing for more than 3800 yards and 32 touchdown passes which was tops among all NFL quarterbacks. Palmer is expected to play in the third pre-season game. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his progress throughout training camp and bump him up the list if he continues to improve. The Bengals have a solid run game and a top flight receiver in Chad Johnson. Palmer, if healthy, should have another very good year.
