Steve McNair (476 ATT, 292 COMP, 3,161 YDS, 16 TDs, 11 INT) is out and Billy Volek (88 ATT, 50 COMP, 474 YDS, 4 TDs, 2 INT) is in at QB. The talented and dynamic Vince Young may be on the squad but experts feel he’s in no way ready to start. He’s the future.

The Titan running game, which was 23rd in the NFL last season, includes the duo of Chris Brown (224 ATT, 851 YDS, 3.8 AVG, 5 TDs) and Travis Henry (88 ATT, 335 YDS, 3.8 AVG, 0 TDs). Both missed time on the field due to injury. Much more is expected from them this season.

WR David Givens (59 REC, 738 YDS, 12.5 AVG, 2 TDs), a former Patriot, should be a big asset. Givens’ speed and good hands make him a go-to player. He’ll open up the field for WR Drew Bennett (58 REC, 738 YDS, 12.7 AVG, 4TDs) and other Titans.

Center Justin Hartwig, the leader of the Titan offensive line, went to Jacksonville, which led Tennessee to sign the Jets Kevin Mawae. Mawae will help but this is a line in flux, looking for stability.

This Titan defense was inconsistent last season. There were some standouts-- end Kyle Vanden Bosch (12.5 sacks) and second-year end Travis LaBoy (6.5 sacks). But Antwan Odom and Bo Schobel were not productive up front.

Linebacking looks good, with Keith Bulluck, the team’s tackling machine back, and Indy’s David Thornton joining the team. Rookie Stephen Tulloch looks ready to play in the middle. This squad is the best part of the defense.

Halfway into the season, the corners were manned by mistake prone rookies -- Reynaldo Hill (3 INT) and Pacman Jones. Chris Hope, from the Steelers, has been added to the mix and should offer leadership and reliable play. However, the secondary is still relatively weak.

2006 Tennessee Titans Predictions

Last year’s 4-12 Titans may be this year’s 4 -12 Titans. This is a young team with a lot of learning and maturing in front of it. The schedule is light, but not light enough to allow this former Super Bowl team to have a winning season.

We will call for the Titans to finish in the cellar in the AFC South Division.
