This is a team that has a dynamic but unpredictable passing game, a sound ground attack and an underperforming defense, which last season gave up 365 points!

former UCLA backup quarterback Matt Moore enters his senior year after throwing for 271.1 YDS/GAME in 2005. He also tossed 19 INTS, while managing to fumble away many games. With a year of working under coach Mike Riley’s system, Moore should be improved.

Tailback Yvenson Bernard, who played most of last year hurt, gained 1,321 yards and made 37 receptions. He’s healthy now and that should translate to even better play. The Beavers lost their all-time leading receiver, Mike Haas, to graduation, leaving tight end Joe Newton and wide receiver Marcel Love to pick up the slack.

The best thing about OSU’s defense last year was their run stoppers but most of the members of the line are gone. True that the pass protection squad is back intact, but the team was 115th in pass “D,” giving up 298.7 yards per game. With some experienced defensive players returning, the team could see improvement on “D”

OSU was 5 and 6 last year. With Matt Moore’s talent and a full season of experience, a balanced offensive attack and hard work on defense, this team may improve to 7 and 4. Key contests will be played against Washington State, Arizona, Stanford and Hawaii.
