The Wolverines field one of the finest college quarterbacks in the game, Chad Henne (223 COMP, 382 ATT, 2,526 YDS, 23 TDs, 8 INTS). Watch for him to not only air it out but command more of the team and the game this season.

The receivers are solid, with sophomore Mario Manningham (27 REC, 433 YDS, 16.0 AVG, 6 TDs) ready to start for the first time. Senior Steve Breaston, at wide receiver, looks to redeem himself as one of the best in the conference.

The running will be done by tailbacks Mike Hart (150 ATT, 662 YDS, 4.4 AVG, 4 TDs) and a slimmer Kevin Grady (121 ATT, 483 YDS, 4.) AVG, 5 TDs). Hart has had injury problems; if he can stay healthy, he’ll be one of the nation’s finest.

On defense, the Wolverines front line is quick and athletic. DE Lamar Woodley (7 sacks) is the best on the club. At LB, the team needs to improve. Positions are still tenuous, with inside linebacker David Harris (88 tackles) providing the most stability. The corners look fine but safety positions are a concern. If senior Ryan Mundy is in pre-injury form that will help a lot.

This team needs to rebound from an off season in 2005. Watch the Notre Dame game in week three; this will tell you a lot.
