Freshman quarterback Drew Weatherford was amazing in his inaugural season, throwing 18 touchdowns over 3,208 yards. The Seminoles need Weatherford to continue that type of output, while cutting down on his interceptions, which numbered 18.

He’ll have a fine target in WR Chris Davis (51 REC, 666 YDS, 5 TDs) and a more experienced front line to keep the opposition in check. The line will need to open it up for Florida State’s running game, which was ranked 109 out of 117 in 2005.

Senior Lorenzo Smith (119 CAR, 552 YDS, 4 TDs) will get the start at tailback, and he has a talented backup in sophomore Antone Smith.

On defense, senior linebacker Buster Davis returns with the most tackles last season with 91. He’ll be the leader on the field. Both corners are back, but the safeties will have less experience than one would like.

Upfront, Andre Fluellen, a junior, is ready to dominate. Half of the front four is new, but the Seminoles show depth at all positions. Last year the “D” was ranked fourteenth nationally; they should be strong once again.

This team looks to do better than its 2005 regular season record of 8-5. Miami, Clemson and Florida will determine if this club has any loses in 2006. The Seminoles could take it all in the ACC, as they did last year.
